DISCLAIMER : Long blog ahead, apologies for hogging your time !
I was busy attending to my friend; for her baby shower celebration in an uncomfortable saree ( I cannot handle sarees, period ! ) and I got a call from Fox Star asking me if I was OK to travel to Mumbai for #AGentleman trailer launch event. Anybody in their right senses would blindly take up the offer, which I did too, only to not hear back anything till 7 PM or so. I thought it's nothing new to have missed a chance to meet THE man I wanted to since 5 years and gave up. And then there they were !!!! - bright & shiny - normal to others but extremely special to me - tickets to travel to Mumbai for a day !
It was impossible to register what was happening and I went with the flow! Special thanks to #FoxStar for the travel & transport and facilities they provided 👍
We fans - a good 40 of us were asked to wait behind a poster opaque barricade and our phones were taken for obvious reasons, but a tad bit too early !
Then came the man our eyes were hunting for, we all tested our toes to tolerate our body weights to catch a glimpse of his hair if not anything else 😬 ! Luckily the spot was close to a window on the stairs leading to the screening theater, so we got a clear glimpse of Sidharth while going upstairs and he very sweetly said "Hey guys you all are here ! I'll see you soon" ! After a while when he was again near the window and saw us waiting for him he quipped "You guys are still here? Wait, I will ask them to get you in" 😊 - I am sure at this point you all LOVE him more already !
We were asked to get in the screening theater, Nick was next to the aisle and I was seated next to him. Sidharth came in & gave a high-five to people on aisle seats and announced they will be screening the trailer, enjoy it and be discreet about it ! When he was going to seat behind, Nick said "Hi Sidharth", he recognized Nick from his previous meetings and shook hands with him, then Nick yelled "Sid, this is Purva!! " He widened his eyes, I was smiling like a fool...he came over, I shook his hands & he gave a warm knowing hug 😍 I thought that's it !!! My day is made & it cannot get better, only to be proved wrong with what followed !!!
After the amazing trailer was showcased, Sid & Jacqueline came in the front, in the mad rush I somehow managed to hand over a card made by my daughter Rivka, a Dark Chocolate bar & Bangalore's Mysore Pak ( Had to settle for what I could get at the Airport owing to the short notice period ! ) He said "That's so sweet" ( Sweet for sweets 😬) then we were told to pose for group pics, I was lost in the mad rush of enthusiastic fans!
Then they allowed fans in a group of 5-6 to go take pictures & autograph's ( Pics were taken in their
camera's ). When my turn finally came I asked him do you remember you called me your friend on twitter and he said " Of course I do, I have interacted with you so much, but only on twitter, its nice to you all here". I told him my daughter loves him too and would love it if he signs for her and he gave me the best written words ever !!!
When Janaki ( Sid Fan who has met him 4 times before, I am so J ) was telling him that he has never interacted with her on twitter, he gave her a hug and for some reason I said out aloud only she gets a hug ! Then he said " Oh please don't feel left out, come here" and a warm hug followed !!
P.S. I am sure you guys are bored by now BUT I have to say the way it was !!!
So when this meeting was over we were asked to hep ourselves with refreshments & then get going to the Airport. We were extremely elated, there was sprint & rhythm in our steps with the overwhelming experience, HE KNOWS ME, HE KNOWS ME...was the only thing going in my head. Did not miss the fact that this was not captured in pictures for a visual memory, the fact that THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED was more than enough to give a lifetime of happiness!!
But..... when we had just about started eating inside a different room, there was a sudden rush & we realized Sidharth is leaving ! AND then we realized we NOW have our phones, at least we can take his pictures !
👈So this is where we were when he is about to leave !
Fans rushed to try and get a picture clicked with him, he being #AGentleman obliged and took few. I managed to reach till the door ( which was a step higher ) and he was leaving. I wore a dejected look on my face, luckily he glanced and called out "Wait, Purva come here, come here.. lets take a pic"
I thank God from the bottom of my heart for not making me freeze there and giving sensation in my feet to sprint towards him to do the needful !!
He guided me there in that rush ! I was struggling to hold the phone up as you see the obvious height difference ! He offered saying "Do you want me to hold the phone and take a pic? ", I said please if you can 😊He took a pic with his arms around me, I had gone completely blank at this point !! Then Nick screamed from behind, lets take a group pic, he said sure why not and clicked 5 pics on my phone ---yes he held my phone 😍 ( That phone cover is coming off now & getting framed :P ) . And then he said " You all know her right, take the picture from her, thank you guys ! " And he left............
He left giving me memories which I never imagined or expected !
Thank you Sidharth ! You are a gem, you did not have to make us feel special but you did! You went out of your way, you acknowledge & appreciate us fans in ways we never thought a star would 😊
So overwhelmed, so touched, so happy, so mesmerized ! Could not speak up much in your presence as it was surreal and you had no idea how fast my heart was beating and I was dumbfounded 😬
Also it was amazing to Meet Nick, Janaki, Muskaan, Nikita & Veeral - you guys are awesome !!
